Andrew J. Chupka, Jr., 82, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 10, 2020 of natural causes. He was the beloved husband of Janice (Peveri) Chupka who was the love of his life through 58 years of marriage.
Andy was born October 4, 1937 in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Martinek) Chupka. He was employed with the United Parcel Service as a driver for 38 years, until his retirement in 1999.
In addition to his wife Janice, he is survived by his daughter, Lee Ann Dangelo of Southington, CT; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Chupka Back and her husband Ronald of Ridgefield; two sisters, Kathleen Bologa of Spring Hill, FL and Mary Ann Roberts; three granddaughters, Sarah Chupka, Gianna and Gabriella Dangelo, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Chupka in 2001, and his brother, Michael Chupka.
Andy was a graduate of Oliver Wolcott Technical High School and studied carpentry. He served in the US Navy for three years, three months and three days. Andy was an avid Yankees fan and often coached the team from his recliner. He served Sacred Heart church as an altar boy and at St. Francis of Assisi church as adult assisting with ushering and the offering for many years. Andy was a Torrington Babe Ruth Baseball coach. You could find him participating in competitive paint ball games with family and friends as well as a “boy’s breakfast club” on weekends. Andy traveled to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas, flew model airplanes he painstakingly built himself, and attended hot rod shows, often displaying his own custom 1990 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE pickup truck. He and his wife also enjoyed visiting the CT casinos.
Andy will be remembered as a kind and gentle man with a big heart. He was proud of his children and admired his granddaughters. His laugh, smile and twinkle in his eye whenever he greeted you will be missed.

All relatives and friends attending must follow CDC recommendations for COVID prevention – honor social distancing and wear protective masks The memorial service will be private due to COVID restrictions.
