Alma ”Lou” Lucille (Maloney) Hurd, 95, of Torrington, CT, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014, at Wolcott Hall. She was the beloved wife of the late Forest ”Frosty” Hurd.
Alma was born November 1, 1919, in Bennington, VT, daughter of the late James A. and Alma (Laflamme) Maloney. She was a graduate of Catamont High School in Bennington, VT. She was active in school sports, and in her later years, she loved to bowl. She was employed by Howard Johnsons as a waitress. She will be missed.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Bogert (William) of Colchester, Jean M. Selim (David) of Waterbury; James Hurd (Pat) of Florida, John Hurd (Claudette) of Florida, William D. Hurd of FL, Robert Hurd of Connecticut, Danny C. Hurd (Lori) of Burlington, and one sister, Patricia McCormick of Pennsylvania. She was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughters, Patricia Lee Rusin “Patty”, Lucille Elizabeth Hurd “Betty Lou”; grandson, SSGT Brian Joseph Przasnyski “Bri”; one sister, Marie Maloney Holmes; eight brothers, James, William, Robert, Richard, John, Andrew, Joseph and Edward Maloney, as well as many loved in-laws and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield Road, Harwinton, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Burlington Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on November 14 th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
