Alice D. (Magistrali) Grammatica

Alice D. Grammatica, 89, passed away on April 10, 2014.   Alice was born in Torrington, CT on April 16, 1924, daughter of the late Dina and Giuseppe Magistrali.  The past six years she lived in Katy, TX to be with her daughters.

Alice was a kind and thoughtful soul, always thinking of others and never wanting much for herself.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister.  Her most enjoyable times were taking long rides, sketching, reading, playing bingo and cards, but most of all she loved going to the casino.  Her most cherished moments were giving a piece of herself to each one of her grandchildren, sharing and reminiscing about her lifetime, leaving her family here on earth with treasured memories.  Her Italian cooking inspired her family, love and the precious moments we all spent together.  She will be truly missed by all.

Alice is survived by her two daughters, Denise Richardson and husband Link Richardson of Houston, TX. Diane O’Brien and husband Larry O’Brien of Cincinnati, OH; a nephew, who she considered her son, Michael Magistrali and wife Connie Magistrali of Torrington, CT; grandchildren: Chris Nickerson; Dina O’Brien; Keith, Craig and Shae Richardson.  The family is grateful to her personal caregiver, Anisa Lira, who provided assistance to her and her family for the past four years.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, April 25, 2014, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and also on Saturday morning, April 26 ^th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, CT.   The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, with the cortege leaving at 9:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, to St. Mary’s Church, 85 Pulaski St., Torrington, for The Divine Liturgy of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery.
