Alfred C. Vannini

Alfred C. Vannini, 86, of Torrington, passed away on March 11, 2016, at Valerie Manor in Torrington.  Born in Torrington on June 20, 1929, he was the son of the late Ottorino “Ettore” and Amalia (Porcelli) Vannini. He was the husband of the late Mary (Ryan) Vannini.

A veteran of the United States Army, he served his country during the Korean War. Until his retirement he was employed as a clerk with the US Postal Service. He was a member of the Torrington Elks Lodge, a member of the East End Social Club, and a former member of Greenwoods Country Club.

Survivors include his brother, Ottorino “Tino” Vannini of Torrington, his cousin, Clara Cuozzo also of Torrington, his nephews Allan and Tom (Jane), and  his niece, Tina,. In addition to his wife, Mary, he was predeceased by his sister, Corrine Vannini of Torrington.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, with burial following at Saint Francis New Cemetery. Calling hours will take place one hour before the Mass from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
