Alfred N. Mojon

Alfred N. “Al” Mojon, 84, of Torrington, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2015 at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Torrington on May 4, 1931, he was the son of the late Ulysses and Alice Mojon. He was the beloved husband of Joy Connors Mojon for 62 years.

In addition to his wife, Al is survived by his daughters, Donna Marconi, Torrington, Terri Pastre and her husband Mark, Torrington, and Barbara Mojon Gugnoni and her husband Daniel, Litchfield, and three grandchildren, Lucia Marconi, Alexander Marconi, and Sarah Pastre, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Al, a veteran of the Vietnam War, was awarded the Bronze Star for taking extra measures to ensure the safety of his unit. He received many additional medals during his years of service. He was stationed in Japan, Germany, Korea, and several stateside assignments. He retired after twenty years having achieved the rank of First Sergeant/E8. The patriotism he learned in the Army never left him. After his retirement, he had a long career in sales.

Al enjoyed golfing with friends in the Senior League at Eastwoods Country Club. He volunteered as co-chairman of the Mid-Day Golf League for many years. Al was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where he served as an usher.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Roger, and his sister, Sylvia Schrader.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield Road, Harwinton, CT. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Torrington, with full military honors. Friends are asked to meet directly at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Calling hours will be held at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, CT on Thursday, October 15 from 5pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield Road, Harwinton, CT.  Condolences to the Mojon family may be sent to www.cookfuneralhomect.com.
