Alfred J. Bollard, Jr.

March 21, 1931 — June 15, 2015

Alfred J. Bollard Jr.  84, passed away on June 15, 2015. He was the loving husband of Connie (Ceritello) Bollard for over 65 years.

Born on March 21, 1931, in Torrington, CT, he was the son of the late Alfred J Bollard Sr. and Bertha E. (Neidt) Bollard.   Al was the brother to Robert Bollard Sr. of Torrington, CT and two sisters, Joan Campanelli (deceased) and Karen Bertoli of Torrington, CT.

Al attended Torrington public schools and graduated from Torrington High School.  He worked at the Torrington Company for over 45 years as supervisor for the Ball Bearing Division and was a member of the Torrington Company Forman’s Club. He was also a member of the Elk’s Club and was an avid bowler serving as the Treasurer for the Merchant league for many years.

He is survived by his wife Connie, three daughters Deborah Ann (Bollard) Cerruto from Torrington CT, deceased, Gail Rose (Bollard) Schellbach from West Palm Beach FL, Dona Marie Bollard from Rye, CO, and two sons Alfred J. Bollard III of Norfolk, CT and David Bollard of Torrington, CT.

Al was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.

Al was a kind person possessing a gentile caring for all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always very supportive, lending a helping hand to anyone even if they were separated by hundreds of miles, he was always there making you feel close. Al was blessed with a kind heart, passion for living and had a positive spirit which was one of the greatest gifts he passed on to his children and others.

Al loved to travel seeing most of the world with his wife and family over the years.  One of his favorite things to do was taking pictures and videos which he would share with family explaining in great detail his adventures. During this time Al made many new friends all over the world which he cherished.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 22, 2015, at St Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington at 9:00 am.  Burial will follow at St Peter Cemetery, Torrington.  There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial contributions be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Ave., Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.  Condolences may be sent to the Bollard family by visiting www.cookfuneralhomect.com
