Aileen Beth (Friedlander) Rosedale (58) of Canton passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 11 after a long struggle with cancer. Aileen was committed to her loving husband of 28 years, Steven. She was the proud mother of William and Elora. Aileen is also survived by her beloved siblings Penney Borovsky and Joshua (Heidi) Friedlander, her cherished nieces and nephews Rebecca and David Borovsky and Sarah, Zachary and Andrew Friedlander, her in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Haig Raky and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rosedale, and her brother-in-law Michael Rosedale. She was pre-deceased by her adoring parents, Malvin and Frances Friedlander.
Aileen was an avid cook and baker, earning the nickname “Mrs. Sconedale” after her renowned treats. She was an active congregant at Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation in Simsbury, teaching Sunday School for many years and championing the continuation of a project initiated by her daughter, Elora, providing Chemo Companion Bags to patients of the Wethersfield Infusion Center. She loved to shop, delighting at the thrill of searching out great bargains.
Throughout her more than thirteen year cancer journey, Aileen was referred to as “Wonder Woman” for her remarkable courage, optimism and grace in confronting a myriad of challenging circumstances. She wanted the world to know that she went down kicking and screaming, reluctant to give up the fight.
Aileen was a kind, generous, funny presence in all of our lives. Her enthusiasm, optimism and charisma earned her the devoted friendship of all those whose lives she touched.
Her family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to all of the medical staff who have participated in her care over the years, especially Dr. Patricia Defusco and the staff at the Wethersfield Infusion Center.
Tributes to The Partnership for Breastcare, Hartford Hospital, P.O. Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06102-5037 in Aileen’s memory would be most graciously appreciated.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 14 at 12:00 noon at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington. Burial will immediately follow at Farband Cemetery in Morris. Shiva will be observed at the Borovsky home on Tuesday November 15 from 2-7pm
