Adolph “Al” A. Grabinski, 95, of Torrington, CT, passed away, Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of the late Myrtle V. (Thacker) Grabinski.
Al was born April 6, 1921, in Burlington, CT, son of the late Alfred and Elizabeth (Yeski) Grabinski. He served his country with the US Army during World War II and Korea. Among the awards and decorations he received upon his honorable discharge were the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney as a Foreman until his retirement.
He is survived by one daughter, Mary Jo Corey, of Torrington; six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Everett “Bucky” Thacker, and a sister Louise DeBrat.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery, Collins Road, Collinsville, CT with full military honors accorded. There are no calling hours. Condolences may be sent to the Corey family by visiting www.cookfuneralhomect.com
