Charles L. Zecchin, 85, of Winsted, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Cherry Brook Healthcare Center with his loving wife by his side. He was the devoted husband of Dorothy (Chicos) Zecchin for 63 years.
Charles was born August 23, 1933, in Winsted, son of Joseph and Pauline (Cogliati) Zecchin. He graduated from The Gilbert School in 1951 and attended Teachers College of Connecticut. Charlie was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed UConn basketball. He rarely missed any of his son’s or grandsons’ sporting events. Spending time with his family made him most happy. He especially enjoyed the time at their home on the Cape. He was blessed with wonderful friends, many of whom were their traveling companions. Charlie was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially looking after his three grandsons and granddogs.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by a daughter Charlann Smith and her husband Edward, a son Thomas and his wife Valerie, grandsons Patrick, Brendan, Thomas and his wife Hannah, a brother Joseph and was predeceased by a sister Esther McIntyre.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cherry Brook and the VNA for such wonderful care.
